Ballot - One Body

PLEASE GIVE THIS YOUR URGENT CONSIDERATION AND ATTENTION.

ONE REPRESENTATIVE BODY TO INCORPORATE THE WHOLE OF THE AMBULANCE SPECTRUM.

I am sure that most of you can see the need for ONE representative body.

A body that will represent all grades within the Ambulance profession.

This can be seen by the "Voice" and the weight carried by the BMA in relation to Doctors, and of course the 'weight' of other professional bodies.

The BAA is willing to arrange a meeting of ALL Associations, representing all aspects of the Ambulance field in order to discuss, argue propose or whatever a manner in which this may be able to be achieved.

One way of course would be an amalgamation or merger of all the various "Associations" currently in being.

I will say hear and now - - This will not be an easy task, it will involve numerous meetings with the representatives of the organisations concerned, and obviously consultations between the organisations and their members before any final proposals could be put to all parties.

The initial proposals will be for the formation of ONE overall body.

Within that body will be clearly defined groups. i.e. SRApara - - Technicians - - - and any other group qualifications, Ambulance Services, Voluntary Associations, etc. etc.

Each group will elect from the hands on working members in that group, their own representatives, who will also form the committee for the overall body.

Simply as an indication, the benefits of that would be, - - a member of any group puts forward a proposal to his committee member, that would be put to the committee and if agreed would have the backing and support of the whole of the membership, NOT just the group affected by the initial proposal.

There is not point in trying to discuss this in this posting, it's not going to be that simple.

There will also be personal benefits that can be obtained for and on behalf of the members, and the bigger the membership the more opportunity there will be for negotiating these things.

THIS IS GOING TO BE AN EXPENSIVE EXERCISE.

SO - - Before committing ourselves to the task, we really need to know how many of you would actually join such a body, "IF" an acceptable proposal can be reached.

Please bear in mind this will be a body formed from your input, - - your proposals, suggestions, comments, criticisms, which will all be taken into account in the formation stages, and once in place it will be YOUR "Association", run by your ELECTED representatives, with annual elections, giving each and everyone of you the opportunity to stand for office.

Assuming of course that an agreement can be reached between the associations currently in being

This will never even get off the ground if we get the same response as all the other attempts that have been made to form such a body.

I would even go as far as to say this is probably the last chance there will be. All it wants is another 'failure' simply due to lack of interest, and I doubt anyone will ever take the trouble in the future to even try again.

The ball is now in your court to decide if we should even set the wheels in motion.

Please either cut and paste the ballot form below and e-mail it to listowner@eco999.com or print this page and complete the ballot form below and send to the BAA. You can download this in Word format also, click here.
